Musculoskeletal physiotherapy involves assessing treating injuries, dysfunction and conditions that affect the musculoskeletal system. A subjective history is taken to identify contributing factors, pain distribution and behaviour, and mechanism of injury.
Jacqueline Walker has been working as a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist for more than 25 years, combining interests in high standards of patient care and management of sports injuries, postural and spinal conditions with exercise specific core strengthening and stability for people of all ages. She believes that by reducing stresses that overload the musculoskeletal system along with providing exercises to counteract these factors is key to long term health and mobility.
Treatment options and prognosis are discussed with the patient aimed at achieving positive outcomes that are relevant to their situation.
Treatment options where indicated may include manual therapy with gentle mobilisation of restricted joints, soft tissue massage of involved muscles, low level laser therapy over trigger points, ultrasound. This is teamed with postural advice and where required specific exercises for flexibility, endurance and relief.
